Educate your palate! We make wine approachable. Our wine classes span a variety of levels and topics. Class is causal, coverage of materials is thorough, and our teachers are top-tier industry professionals. Sign up in advance below, or drop in last minute as long as seats remain available. For our Barrel Room members you will receive discounted rates and other perks.
Class Levels and Costs
Class costs are determined based on materials provided during class and food served (where applicable). When you register for your first class, part of your costs include your Wine University Club membership for one year. This membership will come with special promotions throughout the year and priority seating which will help enhance your experience in some our most popular classes.
Our class level legend (shown in number of wine glasses) is intended to help you choose a class that’s right for you, but there are no “pre-requisites” for any class at any level. Intermediate and advanced classes may assume a foundation of wine knowledge, but anyone is welcome to attend.

Kasi Shelton CSW, ACWS, CS (specialties: wine and spirits)
After her studies in Sociology at the University of Oklahoma , Kasi Shelton discovered her true passion, wine, while working for The Metro Wine Bar & Bistro in Oklahoma City. Working as the Beverage Director for the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club she began formal studies in wine, becoming a Certified Specialist of Wine through the Society of Wine Educators and has an Advanced Certificate in Wine & Spirits from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. She is a Certified Sommelier in the Court of Master Sommeliers, passed separately all three portions of their Advanced exam and is a Diploma candidate through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. After moving to New York City to further her education and career, she ran the beverage programs for Vero Wine Bars and Michael’s New York. Now back in her home state, she enriches her passion for wine, beer and spirits through studies, travel, teaching classes and consulting. Currently, Kasi is finishing a masters degree in Administrative Leadership at OU and is the Operations Director for the Barrel Room. She continues to enhance her knowledge of wine through travel and teaching, exploring all it as to offer, one sip at a time.

Tyler Fender,CS (Specialties: Wine)
Born and raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma, Tyler attended Oklahoma State University and received his Bachelor’s degree from the school of Hotel Restaurant Administration. While attending school at OSU, Tyler worked in the kitchen of the fine dining restaurant “The Ranchers Club”. After graduation, Tyler attended The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY to obtain an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts.
During his schooling Tyler completed his required internship in Colorado Springs, CO at the Broadmoor Hotels 5 Star 5 Diamond “Penrose Room”. After completing his internship, Tyler returned to NY to finish his schooling at CIA. During the second half of the program Tyler got the opportunity to work at a variety of different restaurants located in New York City. These Restaurants include; Restaurant Daniel, Momofuku as well as the 3 Michelin star restaurant Eleven Madison Park. After Graduation, Tyler returned back to Oklahoma and joined the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club team as the Beverage Manager. In September 2012, Tyler completed his Level 1 Sommelier Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers, and in 2014 passed his Level 2 exam earning the Walter Clore Scholarship for the best score in his class.
Amie Hendrickson, CS, CSW, CSS (Specialties: Wine and Spirits)
Amie entered the wine world like many professionals do, by “accident”. She knew from an early age that she wanted to teach but never dreamed her passion would lead her into the world of adult beverages. Music and History were the focus of study at the University of Central Oklahoma. While there, she took a “temporary” holiday position at Edmond Wine Shop during the university’s winter break. Over the next 18 years Amie learned the craft of retail from one of Oklahoma’s most respected industry professionals, Vance Gregory. Throughout her career her love of learning inspired her to study the disciplines offered by the Society of Wine Educators and the Court of Master Sommeliers. Inevitably, studies lead to travel. Amie’s itineraries have included domestic travel to wine country destinations in California, Oregon, and Washington. Some international travel highlights include touring Scotland’s Islay whisky distilleries, the beautiful Greek island of Santorini, Sherry country in southern Spain, and sipping Grüner in Vienna’s Naschmarkt. Her wine reviews have been published in Sommelier, a TEXSOM publication that features reviews from someliers and wine educators throughout the United States. In addition to her continuing education and management duties at the shop Amie serves as the 2019 Education Coordinator for Oklahoma State University’s Wine Forum, a biennial wine education event that raises scholarship funds for hospitality students in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration.
Travis Smith, CS, CSW (Specialties: Wine)
Travis’s curiosity about wine was first sparked while he was a student at the University of Central Oklahoma, where, in classes in the humanities, he came to recognize the importance of wine in the classical cultures of Europe, as well as the lasting role of wine in modern culture. This curiosity led to a job at a fine wine shop where his interest developed into an enduring passion for all aspects of the wine industry. After graduating with a degree in Humanities in 2009, Travis accepted a sales position with Oklahoma’s premier fine wine distributor, Thirst Wine Merchants. Never one to stop learning or pushing forward, in 2013 Travis passed both the Court of Master Sommeliers Certified Sommelier and the Society of Wine Educators Certified Specialist of Wine exams. In 2015, Travis completed the Wine Business Management certificate program from Sonoma State University. Also in 2015, Travis was promoted to Import Brand Manager for Thirst Wine Merchants. Since that time, Thirst’s import portfolio has become one of the most important and profitable parts of its business.
John Enterline, CSS, CBS (Specialties: Beer & Spirits)
John has over 15 years in the alcoholic beverage industry with a focus on craft beer. He has a passion for cooking and a love for food that makes him particularly interested in the science behind food and beverage pairings. A Certified Beer Server and Certified Specialist of Spirits he is currently studying to take his next round of certifications which will include Certified Cicerone and Certified Specialist of Wine. John has a passion for craft beer, spirits, and wine and is always seeking to deepen his knowledge as well as share that knowledge with those who are thirsty to learn.
Clayton Bahr, CSW,CS (Specialties: Wine)
Clayton Bahr is the host of the local radio show, Tasting Notes, aired every Monday at 7pm on KOSU and The Spy FM. He is a Certified Specialist of Wine and a Certified Sommelier. He is the founder of Turning the Table on Hunger and Turkey Tango. He currently works for Artisan Fine Wine and Spirits and loves travel, music and cigars.
